Venice, 23 December 2025-In December, three new E-RTG yard cranes, fully electric and zero-emission, arrived at the PSA Venice - Vecon terminal. The cranes, ordered in December 2024, were manufactured during 2025 by ZPMC and designed in accordance with PSA Group standards, representing a total investment of EUR 8.5 million. The new E-RTGs will be mainly dedicated to full container delivery operations, contributing to an improvement in services for road haulage and an increase in yard operational capacity.  This will enable the terminal to handle higher traffic volumes and further reduce truck waiting times, with a particularly positive impact during peak operational periods. 

The 100% electric E-RTGs pursue a dual objective: 

- Enhancing services for shipping lines, with concrete support for cargo and the entire road haulage supply chain; 

- Eliminating environmental impact compared to traditional diesel RTGs and significantly reducing energy consumption. 

Matteo Gasparato, President of the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority - Ports of Venice and Chioggia, commented: 
"I am extremely satisfied with the investment made by PSA in Venice at the VECON terminal, as it allows the port to achieve two essential objectives: on the one hand, improving operational efficiency in a strategic sector such as container handling, and on the other, making significant progress in terms of environmental sustainability. The container sector is a key element for the competitiveness of the Port of Venice, and traffic figures are very encouraging: in the first eleven months of the year, a total of 487,397 TEUs were handled, an 11.4 % increase compared to the same period of the previous year, equal to over 50,000 additional TEUs. 
However, port development also depends on sustainability, which is a truly strategic factor. It is therefore necessary to implement a genuine energy transition, which is also being pursued through initiatives aimed at making Marghera a hub for the production and logistics of green hydrogen. In this way, electricity generation is moving towards full environmental sustainability, providing clean energy for electric equipment."
