Padua, 25 June 2026 - PSA Intermodal Italy and Logtainer have signed the final agreement for the implementation phase of the intermodal terminal project at Interporto Padua, marking the transition from the tender award obtained in December 2025 to project execution. The agreement also includes the creation of the new company ‘PSA Padova’, which will lead the further development and management of the terminal.

The initiative aims to further strengthen Padua’s role as a strategic logistics hub within key European freight and intermodal corridors, in line with PSA’s Node-to-Network (N2N) strategy, by enhancing connectivity between inland terminals, seaports and international transport networks.

Under the agreed structure, PSA Intermodal Italy will assume a leading role in PSA Padua, holding a majority stake and operational responsibility. Interporto Padua will retain a minority shareholding, ensuring strong local anchoring and continued strategic alignment of the terminal within the regional logistics system. The project builds on PSA’s global network of ports, inland terminals and logistics solutions, bringing its integrated approach to inland logistics to Padua. Logtainer will contribute its expertise in multimodal transport and rail operations within the Italian market, supporting the further development of efficient intermodal services.

Designed with a strong focus on intermodality, efficiency and sustainability, the project will improve the integration of rail, road and port connections, support increased freight flows through the Padua platform, and contribute to more efficient and lower-impact inland logistics. It will further reinforce the role of the Veneto region within both the North-East Italian and broader European logistics landscape.

Padua represents a strategic investment, given the terminal’s strong growth potential, advanced infrastructure and established connections to the Trans-European Transport Networks. Positioned as a key hub linking inland terminals, seaports and international corridors, Padua drives PSA Italy’s ecosystem excellence, reinforcing the PSA Group’s Node-to-Network strategy which will enhance competitiveness, efficiency and sustainability for Italian companies and supply chains across Northeastern Italy.
