PSA SECH welcomes Italian Navy vessels Trieste and Vulcano at the Port of Genoa

Two memorable days at the PSA SECH terminal in Genoa

PSA SECH had the honour of welcoming two outstanding Italian Navy vessels at the Port of Genoa: the LHD – Landing Helicopter Dock Trieste and the LSS – Logistic Support Ship Vulcano. The visit underlines the strategic importance of both the terminal and the Port of Genoa within the national and international maritime and logistics network.
During the official occasion, PSA Italy commemorative crests were presented to CF Gianluca Montella, Executive Officer (Second-in-Command) of Trieste, by Davide Romanengo, General Manager of PSA SECH, and to CV Gabriele Di Vico, Commanding Officer of Vulcano, by Paolo Casali, Head of Services at PSA Italy.
The PSA Italy delegation also included Massimo Crimaldi, Saverio Dalbis, Sabrina Mattocci, Fabio Bucchioni, Ezio Sentieri, Mauro Valentini and Irene Parmeggiani.

Welcoming these two impressive naval units at the PSA SECH terminal represents a significant recognition of the terminal’s operational capabilities and the Port of Genoa’s strategic role in supporting high-profile naval and logistics operations.

The Trieste, bearing the motto FULGE SUPER MARE (“shines over the sea”), is an LHD – Landing Helicopter Dock, a multi-role amphibious unit and the largest vessel built for the Italian Navy since World War II. As the flagship of the Italian amphibious group, it represents a concentration of technology and innovation: designed from the outset for multi-role missions with low environmental impact, equipped with C4-EW capabilities (command, control, communications, computing, and electronic warfare), and capable, in the future, of operating STOVL aircraft (short take-off and vertical landing).

The Vulcano, with the motto DURANDUM EST (“one must persevere”), is a modern logistic support unit (LSS – Logistic Support Ship), built by Fincantieri in La Spezia. It provides comprehensive “all-inclusive” support, enhancing the fleet’s autonomy and operational capability.

PSA Italy extends its sincere thanks to the Italian Navy for its trust and for the opportunity to share such a meaningful moment with the entire Genoese port community.
