Retired crane operating instructors visit PSA Genova Pra’

Last 7th July was one of the most touching days of the year at the PSA Genova Pra’ terminal. The occasion was a very special meeting with three retired crane drivers: Flavio Mariani, Pino Allegri and Carlo Catania. The day began with countless memories, warm greetings to the former trainees who today work on the quay cranes, and the Management’s welcome. This was followed by a presentation of the three Psa Italy’s terminals with particular attention to the changes made in the Genova Pra’ terminal under the supervision of Anselmo Marcenaro, a visit to the simulator used during the training of crane operators led by Andrea Baima, a tour of the terminal and a climb up onto one of the new  cranes with Andrea Baima. Here, the three former instructors were pleasantly surprised by the technical innovations of the new cranes, which bring together precision and operational speed. This is also thanks to a series of sensors and technical instruments that provide support to the operator at work.

Each of the three ex crane operators were presented with a personalised commemorative crest. In addition, to keep alive the memory of those who contributed to making our terminal great and who, sadly, are no longer with us, a commemorative crest was presented to Gianluca Traverso, son of Gianni, a professional crane driver and one of the most respected people at the terminal. With patience and professionalism, Gianni knew how to teach “ the profession of crane driver” to all those who began work at our terminal from 1994 onwards. The morning concluded with a lunch served in the terminal’s canteen. Giacomo Mazzoni, Giorgio Agrifoglio  and Pino Parodi were unable to attend due to family reasons, but were remembered with great affection by all present.
